"Information Has Value" Website Prototype

A group on Michigan State University's campus needed to a way to distribute a research literacy project on the topic "Information has Value".

Process

1. Content creation

When thinking about the topic "information has value" we wanted to include the dimensions, examples, definitions and additional resources to learn more.

2. Site navigation

We divided up the information into different pages and gave them labels that were easy to understand for the specific audience whom they were intended for.

3. Wireframed design

The next step was laying out content on each page. This was difficult because the timeline for the project was fast and the other content collaborators were updating their content in live time.

4. Color scheme and graphics

I decided on a color scheme of a navy blue, light blue, coral, soft green and soft yellow to fit the overall theme. We wanted the site to look clean but not necessarily sleek and in-your-face. It had to be inviting for those who were new to the top of "Information has value". The color and design choices reflect this. The graphics also had to match with each other. We did not have a budget for graphics so the free ones we pieced together had to mesh well.

5. Figma Prototype

The final part of the project was the creation of the prototype which was done in Figma. The prototype is fully functional like a website would be.

Results

We received good feedback on the prototype in general however it was never made in to a website. The negative feedback had to do with the lack on content but the UI, and site organization was well taken.
